WEST SIDE MARKET

The West Side Market is the oldest market in Cleveland, and one of the oldest in the United States. The market celebrated its centennial in 2012 and is not only a trendy place to visit, but where many locals come for their weekly grocery shopping. Located in the heart of Ohio City, it’s the perfect place to spend a summer day! You can buy produce, meats, and desserts…all the essentials!

One of our favorite stands at the West Side Market is Euro Sweets. If you visit the West Side Market, Euro Sweets is the place to stop for a yummy (and instagrammable) treat! Euro Sweets offers locally baked desserts, such as cookies, cakes, meringues, and more! We treated ourselves to their famous macaroons; they have over 30 flavors! The best part is their customized “character” macarons. We got a cute emoji macaroon, and a unicorn! Look how cute!

Then we stopped at the vendor City Roast to try their iced coffee and it did not disappoint! City Roast also offers a wide variety of teas, which look delicious and fun to try! Located next to the coffee vendor is a popular crepe stand that always has the longest line! Pair the two together and you have the yummiest meal!

After getting our treats we took the steps up to the balcony overlooking the entire market. We definitely recommend the balcony so head up there to sit and eat because the view is incredible!

The indoor market is amazing, but don’t miss the outdoor market! You can get fruits, vegetables, and even pretty flowers! Be sure to talk to the vendors, they’re really friendly and will sometimes give free samples!

While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the Before I Die wall! Write something that’s on your bucket list, and have fun reading all the others! PANCAKES AND WAFFLES

Jack Flaps

If you’re a breakfast food lover, we have found the place for you! While we were in Ohio City we stopped by Jack Flaps, a breakfast-only restaurant. Madison had been before, and highly recommended it, so we decided to try it again to show you guys! Madison got the raspberry crisp waffle, and Maria got the jackflaps with banana slices on top. They were both delicious! The savory combinations will make you wonder if you’re eating breakfast or dessert, but hey, we’re not complaining! We were excited to find out we had arrived for dining during Jack Flaps happy hour, which they have everyday from 1-3 PM, where all waffles and pancakes are only five dollars! Jack Flaps is small in size, so you can expect a bit of a wait most weekend mornings. The restaurant is a bit of a walk from the main Ohio City area, so we recommend driving. Happy eating!

STREET ART OOTD

While exploring Ohio City, we found tons of cool street art, including this Cleveland sign! Because we loved this mural so much, I’ll share outfit of the day! Off the shoulder tops are a must for your summer wardrobe! I love basics, so this one is perfect from Forever 21. Also, these high-waisted medium wash jeans are my favorites! You can wear them with almost anything, and they’re from Topshop. I’ve been loving chokers, especially layering them with necklaces! This beaded choker is from Nordstrom and the gold circle necklace is from Target.

What I Eat In A Day

I love eating healthily, and I wanted to show you all what I eat in a day!

For breakfast, I had oatmeal with strawberries on top. To help fill me up and add nutritional benefits, I mix chia and flax seeds into the oats, you can’t taste them at all!

For lunch, I had leftovers from last night’s Memorial Day cookout! I had grilled pork, corn on the cob, and macaroni salad. My grandma made it all and she is the BEST cook!

As an afternoon snack, I made my favorite smoothie, which you can find out more about here and some pretzels!

For dinner, I made a big salad with romaine, grilled chicken, and tomatoes. Because I have dietary restrictions, I have keep my salads pretty simple, but I love it!

SPRING NEUTRALS

In my wardrobe I tend to stick to neutral colors! Here I am wearing black ripped jeans and a cream tank, but to add a little flair, I paired it with a mauve bralette and snakeskin sandals. A little bit of gold jewelry and you’re ready to go!

If the weather is a little bit cooler this spring, try tying a denim shirt around your waist that way you can slip it on if you start to feel chilly. Cozy and cute!

This outfit is perfect for hanging out, or even a casual date night!

xoxo Madison

Simple Strawberry Banana Smoothie

This quick and easy smoothie is really simple and delicious! It’s perfect for a light breakfast or snack! I make this smoothie all the time as an after school snack! The ingredients are really simple, all you need are a banana and a handful of strawberries. The banana really helps make the smoothie creamy, and the strawberries add flavor and sweetness. I use all frozen fruit so the smoothie is nice and cold, because no one like warm smoothies! If you don’t have frozen fruit, you can add ice for the same effect. For liquid, I like to use water to stay hydrated, but milk and juice work as well!

It’s totally optional, but I like to add spinach for some extra health benefits because you can’t taste it at all! Some other fun add-ins are chia and flax seeds, which are great for fiber, omega-3s, and much more! Once you have all of your ingredients, just blend and you’re done!

Maria’s Absolutely Awesome Workout!

Working out can be two things: boring, and a lot of effort, but I have solutions for both of these! My favorite way to workout is doing abs because you get to lay on the ground! So easy! Jokes aside, this workout will get you in top shape in time for summer! To mix up my workouts, I use a free app called Sworkit. They have multiple apps to workout different parts of your body, like abs, arms, butt, legs, or total body. The app is really easy to use, it tells you exactly what to do and the built- in timer keeps track of when to switch exercises. The app shuffles ab workouts so the order is always different, and you do each one for 30 seconds. Also, the app is perfect for busy people because you can set your workout to be anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes long, and all of the exercises require minimal space and no equipment! It’s also great for beginners because each workout has a video demonstration!

Here are some of my favorite exercises! Planks, crunches, bicycles, v-ups, and more!

Of course, it’s important to do some cardio too if you want to get fit! For cardio, I love running and using the elliptical!

Public Square

Public Square is the heart of downtown Cleveland. This newly renovated space is located in the shadow of Tower City. It’s the perfect place for Cleveland office employees to enjoy lunch, children to play in the sprinklers, and friends to meet up and enjoy the sunshine!

TIPS TO STAY FIT

WORKOUT MOTIVATION!

#1: Have a Workout Buddy!

The key to staying motivated is having a workout buddy to keep you accountable with working out! Madison likes working out with Ryan, her boyfriend, and Maria loved running with her teammates during cross country and track!

#2: Jams!

Music is key to having fun while working out. Turn on upbeat, fun songs to power your high-intensity workouts and play calm music while doing yoga or stretching. Madison swears rap music is the only thing that gets her through her HIIT workouts. Maria likes running to the beats of EDM-style remixes.

#3: Mix It Up & Try New Workouts

There’s nothing less motivating than an old, boring workout routine. To mix it up, try something new! One of my favorite ways to find new workouts is Pinterest! There are tons of fun workouts and inspiring posts, and the layout of Pinterest makes it easy to find something that works for you!

Nike Training Club is a FREE app offering personalized workouts based on your schedule, equipment, and training level! Sworkit is another awesome app for free workouts!
