The West Side Market is the oldest market in Cleveland, and one of the oldest in the United States. The market celebrated its centennial in 2012 and is not only a trendy place to visit, but where many locals come for their weekly grocery shopping. Located in the heart of Ohio City, it’s the perfect place to spend a summer day! You can buy produce, meats, and desserts…all the essentials!
One of our favorite stands at the West Side Market is Euro Sweets. If you visit the West Side Market, Euro Sweets is the place to stop for a yummy (and instagrammable) treat! Euro Sweets offers locally baked desserts, such as cookies, cakes, meringues, and more! We treated ourselves to their famous macaroons; they have over 30 flavors! The best part is their customized “character” macarons. We got a cute emoji macaroon, and a unicorn! Look how cute!
Then we stopped at the vendor City Roast to try their iced coffee and it did not disappoint! City Roast also offers a wide variety of teas, which look delicious and fun to try! Located next to the coffee vendor is a popular crepe stand that always has the longest line! Pair the two together and you have the yummiest meal!
After getting our treats we took the steps up to the balcony overlooking the entire market. We definitely recommend the balcony so head up there to sit and eat because the view is incredible!
The indoor market is amazing, but don’t miss the outdoor market! You can get fruits, vegetables, and even pretty flowers! Be sure to talk to the vendors, they’re really friendly and will sometimes give free samples!
While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the Before I Die wall! Write something that’s on your bucket list, and have fun reading all the others! Or, if you’re anything like us, just take an Instagram!
